The Art of the 1:1 Sound Session
- In this workshop, Jessica will walk participants through the art of the private sound session,
starting with the client intake form and leading all the way to the post-session follow-up. Learn
the basics around structuring a sound session, working with the client’s intention, and creating
a beginning, middle, and end to the sound experience. Among the topics covered will be brain wave states, the differences between private sessions and group sessions, the balance between sound and silence, as well as best practices for working with physical touch, and using instruments on and near the body. We’ll also touch on how and why to use certain instruments, as well as including complementary modalities into your private sound sessions. There will also be time for a Q&A at the end of the session. - Designed for students with some experience with sound as a healing modality.
The Medicine of Your Voice: Sonic Embodiment + Medicine Melodies
- Our own voice is one of the most healing instruments we possess. If breath (prana) is the
expression of our life force, our spirit, then the voice, which rides on the breath, is the outward
manifestation of our spirit, our soul. In this experiential workshop, we’ll tap into the medicine
of our voices through exercises and practices encouraging deep listening, intuitive sounding,
and connecting with the healing power of our own unique sound (Sonic Embodiment). Guided
by Jessica, we will also dive into our innate power to receive the melodies that live both inside
and outside of us – which come through ever more clearly as we open to a more expansive and
curious state of awareness. - Absolutely no singing experience required; just come with an open mind/heart ready to sound
and be sounded!
Meet Our Expert: Jessica Caplan

JESSICA CAPLAN, E-RYT 200, SOUND THERAPY PRACTITIONER
Jessica is a certified sound therapy practitioner, vocalist and yoga teacher. A yoga teacher since 2006, having graduated from Pure Yoga Hong Kong’s first teacher training, Jessica’s twin loves -- music and the healing arts -- organically merged several years ago. She completed the year-long, 290-hour sound therapy practitioner training at the Open Center’s Sound and Music Institute, studying with experts in the field, including John Beaulieu, Silvia Nakkach, and Pat Moffit Cook. She has since guided soundbaths, crafted meditative soundscapes for yoga classes and events, and led workshops, retreats and trainings in voice and sound healing. Jessica is particularly passionate about providing students both in group and one-on-one sessions an integrative, loving approach to connecting with the voice, and through that, with oneself. She is a Reiki practitioner and Restorative yoga teacher, and continues her studies of yoga, sound healing, Native traditions, shamanic practices, and classical North Indian music. Jessica is also the co-creatrix of SoundMind (www.soundmind.space), an audio meditation series combining meditation with therapeutic sound, released in the fall of 2016. www.jessicacaplanyoga.com
